GrappleBoxing Volume 1

Winning a fight by striking while grappling: lock down the opponent's defences ("webbing") and strike from the top.

GrappleBoxing is a plug-on to the standard martial art system of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu where you focus on winning a fight through striking an opponent while grappling. Normally a fight is won with submissions, but there are occasions when you want to "rough someone up", and striking is a good way to do it.

Throwing strikes takes a lot of energy, so it is important to know when to strike. In GrappleBoxing you lock down the opponent's defences so they cannot defend the areas you plan to strike - we call this webbing the opponent. The system is focused on achieving this from the top of the fight; we fight from standing to get there. If you end up on the bottom you follow the normal Gracie Combatives system. The fight is split into five main areas, including wall fighting, all covered in this course.
